Tips for Renting

Price

This is the main consideration for any tenant and you should make sure you can afford the rent and still have enough to live comfortably on.

Location

Location is always very important when it comes to property. Transport and amenities (such as schools, hospitals, recreation areas and public transport) should be close by and easily accessible. The neighbourhood should be safe and all necessary security precautions must be taken.

Condition

Always make sure the property is clean and tidy, and all repairs are attended to. An astute potential tenant will always check all the services (electrical and plumbing) and fixtures (cupboards, drawers etc) to make sure they are in reasonable working order.

Design

By this I mean simple design elements such as adequate room size and storage facilities. It is no good having a small apartment with no built-in storage, or a family house with small living area.

Parking

Finally, parking is another important consideration for potential tenants, especially if the property is located in a hard to park area. Even if the tenant does not drive, there is a good chance one of their friends or family members does, and very soon it becomes a problem.
